Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes, the star of this recipe. It’s best to use a brush to scrub away any dirt or debris, ensuring they are completely clean. Lightly pat the washed sweet potatoes dry. Then, arrange them in a single layer in your frying pan, making sure they don’t overlap. Evenly distributing the sweet potatoes is key for uniform cooking.

Step 2

Once the sweet potatoes are arranged in the pan, cover it with a lid. The crucial step here is to set the heat to the lowest setting. Cooking on high heat will burn the outside while leaving the inside undercooked or burnt. Gentle, low-heat cooking over a longer period will ensure they become tender, moist, and wonderfully sweet inside.

Step 3

After about 25 minutes, carefully lift the lid to check the sweet potatoes. Once the top side has cooked a bit, use a spatula or tongs to gently flip each sweet potato. After flipping, replace the lid and continue cooking on the same low heat. This ensures both sides are evenly cooked, resulting in a more delicious roasted sweet potato.

Step 4

After another 20 minutes or so, it’s time to check if the sweet potatoes are fully cooked. Grab a chopstick or skewer and insert it into the thickest part of a sweet potato. If the chopstick slides in smoothly and easily, your roasted sweet potatoes are perfectly cooked all the way through and ready to be enjoyed! If the chopstick meets resistance, simply put the lid back on, keep the heat on very low, and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes.
