Main Ingredients
  • 9 pieces frozen Galbi-tteok (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 bowls cooked rice (day-old or fluffy rice works best)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the 9 pieces of frozen Galbi-tteok into bite-sized pieces. Finely chop 1/3 carrot to match the size of the Galbi-tteok. Chop 1/2 green onion and finely chop 1 Korean chili pepper and 1 red chili pepper after removing the seeds. You can adjust the amount of chili peppers to your preference.

Step 2

Heat 2 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onion and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, and stir-fry until fragrant. Making fragrant green onion oil will greatly enhance the flavor of your fried rice.

Step 3

Once the green onion is fragrant, add the cut Galbi-tteok and chopped carrot. Stir-fry over medium heat until the Galbi-tteok is lightly browned and the carrots are slightly tender.

Step 4

When the Galbi-tteok is cooked through, add 0.5 Tbsp of oyster sauce and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce. Stir well to combine the sauce evenly with all the ingredients, ensuring it doesn’t burn.

Step 5

Finally, add the chopped Korean chili pepper and red chili pepper, and stir-fry for about 1 minute until they are slightly softened. Taste and add a tiny pinch of salt if needed. The spiciness from the chili peppers and the color from the red chili pepper will enhance both the flavor and appearance of the fried rice.

Step 6

Add 2 bowls of warm cooked rice and gently break it apart with a spatula so it doesn’t clump. Stir-fry until all ingredients and rice are well combined, then turn off the heat. Serve beautifully on a plate. Finish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes and sesame seeds for a delicious Galbi-tteok fried rice!
