- 1/4 stalk green onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cheongyang pepper (optional, for extra spiciness)
Doenjang Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2 Tbsp oligodang (corn syrup or rice syrup)
- Pinch of ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp Doenjang (Korean soybean paste)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.5 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
- 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2 Tbsp oligodang (corn syrup or rice syrup)
- Pinch of ground black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by making the delicious Doenjang sauce! I’m using frozen pork intestines that have a rich flavor, reminiscent of those served in late-night diners. In a bowl, combine 1 Tbsp Doenjang, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 0.5 Tbsp cooking wine, 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil, 2 Tbsp oligodang, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix well until smooth. This sauce will be the magic ingredient for today’s dish!
Step 2
Next, let’s prepare the vegetables. Finely chop the green onion. The aromatic quality of the green onion will enhance the dish’s overall flavor.
Step 3
Peel and thinly slice the onion. The sweetness and texture of the onion will complement the pork intestines wonderfully.
Step 4
Now, heat a pan over medium heat. Add the frozen pork intestines and cook until they are golden brown and slightly crispy. To remove any gamey odors and add a richer flavor, sprinkle a little black pepper while cooking.
Step 5
Once the pork intestines are nicely browned, add the sliced onion and chopped green onion to the pan. Stir-fry briefly until the vegetables are slightly softened. If you prefer a crisper texture for the vegetables, cook for a shorter time.
Step 6
Now, add 1 Tbsp of the prepared Doenjang sauce to the pan. Stir everything together quickly to ensure all ingredients are evenly coated with the sauce. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the sauce from burning. If you’d like a spicier kick, add the thinly sliced cheongyang pepper at this stage.
Step 7
Serve a generous portion of warm rice in a bowl. Top it off with the delicious stir-fried Doenjang pork intestines. Your appetizing Doenjang Marinated Pork Intestine Rice Bowl is complete! Enjoy your meal!
