Cooking Instructions

Step 1

After enjoying your avocado, carefully remove the seed. Wash it thoroughly under running water to remove any remaining avocado flesh. Ensuring the seed is completely clean is crucial for a pure, unadulterated flavor in your final powder.

Step 2

Pat the cleaned avocado seed dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Removing as much moisture as possible will prevent mold growth and speed up the drying process.

Step 3

Now, it’s time to dry the avocado seed. You have two main options: using a food dehydrator or an oven. Today, we’ll be using the oven method to create our avocado seed powder. Place the seed on an oven tray and bake in a preheated oven at 120°C (250°F) for 2 hours. (If using a food dehydrator, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.)

Step 4

After 2 hours in the oven, check your avocado seed. It’s ready when the hard outer shell begins to crack slightly, indicating it’s well-dried and roasted. Roasting until the shell cracks ensures the inner seed becomes tender enough for grinding.

Step 5

Once removed from the oven, the roasted avocado seed should be tender. Gently peel off the outer shell. Using a knife, chop the softened seed into small pieces. This will make it easier for your blender or grinder to process them into a fine powder.

Step 6

Transfer the chopped avocado seed pieces into your blender or grinder. Pulse until you achieve a fine powder consistency. For the smoothest powder, you might need to stop the blender occasionally, scrape down the sides, and then continue grinding.

Step 7

Your homemade avocado seed powder is incredibly versatile! Add a spoonful to your daily juices, smoothies, or morning oatmeal for an extra boost of nutrients. It’s also a wonderful topping for soups or can be mixed into salad dressings for a unique, nutty flavor.

Step 8

For a soothing beverage, try making avocado seed tea. Simply add half a tablespoon of the powder to a mug, pour in hot water, and stir well. You’ll have a deliciously nutty and healthy drink. A touch of honey can be added for extra sweetness.
