- 4 slices of white bread

First, carefully trim off the hard crusts from the edges of the white bread slices with a knife. This will make the cake layers look neater and provide a softer texture.

Using a rolling pin or the bottom of a clean bottle, flatten each slice of bread as thinly as possible. The thinner the bread, the more natural and soft the layers will be when stacked, resembling crepes. Aim for paper-thin!
