Main Ingredients
- 400g Sweet Potatoes (Use your favorite kind, like Jersey or Beauregard)
- 1 cup Water (200ml)
- 600ml Milk (Adjustable to your preference)
- 2 Tbsp Fructo-oligosaccharides (Adjust sweetness to taste. Can be substituted with honey or sugar)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes under running water. It’s important to scrub them well to remove any dirt or debris.
Step 2
Peel the thoroughly washed sweet potatoes using a knife. Peeling thinly will ensure a smoother blend later.
Step 3
Cut the peeled sweet potatoes into manageable pieces (about 2-3 cm) so they can be easily blended. Larger pieces will take longer to cook.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to cook the sweet potatoes. Pour 1 cup (200ml) of water into a pot.
Step 5
Add a pinch of salt to further enhance the sweetness. (Optional, but it makes a big difference!)
Step 6
Place the prepared sweet potato pieces into the pot. Ensure the water just about covers the sweet potatoes.
Step 7
Cover the pot and simmer over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender. The cooking time may vary depending on the size and type of sweet potato.
Step 8
How to check if the sweet potatoes are cooked? Insert a chopstick. If it slides in smoothly all the way to the center, they are perfectly cooked.
Step 9
Drain the cooked sweet potatoes and carefully transfer them to a plate or another container to cool slightly. Be cautious to avoid burns as they will be hot!
Step 10
Place the cooked sweet potatoes into a blender.
Step 11
Pour in 600ml of milk along with the sweet potatoes. You can adjust the amount of milk to achieve your desired consistency. Use less milk for a richer latte and more for a lighter one.
Step 12
Add 2 Tbsp of fructo-oligosaccharides for sweetness. Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your personal preference. Honey or sugar can also be used as substitutes.
Step 13
Now, blend all the ingredients until smooth. Blend until the mixture is creamy and well combined, with a ‘whizzing’ sound. Ensure everything is smoothly incorporated.
Step 14
The creamy sweet potato latte, now blended, is ready to be poured into a cup.
Step 15
Carefully pour the warm latte into your favorite mug. The steam rising from the warm latte is visually comforting.
Step 16
Finally, sprinkle a little cinnamon powder on top, if desired, for a delicious sweet potato latte! If you don’t enjoy the flavor of cinnamon, feel free to omit it. Stirring in the cinnamon powder before drinking will offer a richer taste experience. 😋
