Super Simple 5-Minute Vienna Sausage and Egg Rice Ball Recipe
Introducing a hearty and delicious rice ball recipe that’s perfect for when kids are reluctant to eat, or as a delightful side dish when adults are enjoying spicy tteokbokki or dakbal. It’s easy to make and great for busy mornings or as a snack.
Main Ingredients
- 6 Vienna sausages
- 1 bowl of warm rice
- 1 fresh egg
- 7g dried seaweed flakes (Gim)
Seasoning & Others
- 1/2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 pinch of salt
- A tiny pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1/2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 pinch of salt
- A tiny pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely mince the Vienna sausages so they are easy for children to eat. It’s good to leave a little bit of chewiness rather than mincing them too finely.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, crack 1 fresh egg. Add a tiny pinch of black pepper and salt for basic seasoning. Be careful not to add too much at this stage, or it might become too salty.
Step 3
Whisk the egg thoroughly with chopsticks or a whisk until the yolk and white are well combined.
Step 4
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a non-stick pan and spread it thinly across the entire surface.
Step 5
Now, pour the whisked egg mixture into the pan, ensuring it spreads thinly over the surface.
Step 6
Reduce the heat to low. As the egg begins to cook, quickly stir it with chopsticks or a spatula, as if making scrambled eggs, until cooked.
Step 7
Once the egg is cooked into soft curds, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Avoid overcooking to maintain a tender texture.
Step 8
In the same pan (you don’t need to add extra oil, but a little can be added if necessary), add the minced Vienna sausages and stir-fry them.
Step 9
Sprinkle a little black pepper while stir-frying the Vienna sausages to enhance their flavor. Cook until the sausages are lightly browned and slightly crispy.
Step 10
Place the stir-fried Vienna sausages on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil. This will make them taste even more delicate.
Step 11
In a large bowl, combine the warm rice, stir-fried Vienna sausages, the prepared scrambled egg, toasted sesame seeds, and mayonnaise.
Step 12
Add the dried seaweed flakes and mix everything gently with a spatula or your hands until well combined. Be careful not to mash the rice grains.
Step 13
Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning with a tiny bit more salt if needed. If serving to children, it’s best to keep the seasoning mild.
Step 14
Finally, shape the seasoned rice mixture into bite-sized balls and arrange them nicely on a plate. Your delicious Vienna sausage and egg rice balls are ready! They also make a fantastic lunchbox item for kids!
