Main Ingredients
- 1 Mul Naengmyeon (Cold Noodle Soup) set
- 1 Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Mixed Noodles) set
- 1 Hard-boiled egg
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Mul Naengmyeon broth. Place the Mul Naengmyeon broth packet in the freezer for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, until it’s lightly frozen and slushy. This will ensure your Naengmyeon is extra refreshing.
Step 2
Start preparing the Bibim Naengmyeon and boil the egg. The noodles for the Bibim Naengmyeon set require about 9 minutes of boiling. It’s also a good idea to have a hard-boiled egg ready for garnish. Boil the egg in cold water for a perfect result.
Step 3
Boil water for the noodles. Use a large pot and fill it with plenty of water. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. Perfectly chewy noodles are the foundation of delicious Naengmyeon, so ensure your water is ready.
Step 4
Boil each type of noodle according to its specific cooking time. The noodles for Mul Naengmyeon and Bibim Naengmyeon are different and require slightly different boiling times. Boil the Mul Naengmyeon noodles for about 40 seconds and the Bibim Naengmyeon noodles for about 30 seconds in boiling water. A good method is to add the Mul Naengmyeon noodles first, wait 10 seconds, then add the Bibim Naengmyeon noodles and boil them together for a total of 30 seconds. This ensures both noodles achieve their optimal texture.
Step 5
Rinse the cooked noodles thoroughly under cold water. To prevent the noodles from becoming mushy, drain them immediately after boiling and rinse them multiple times under cold running water. This step makes the noodles wonderfully springy and enhances their taste.
Step 6
Arrange the noodles in the serving bowl. Gently place the two types of noodles, which differ in color and thickness, into your Naengmyeon bowl. Now it’s time to add the refreshing and spicy elements.
Step 7
Pour in the icy cold broth. Ladle the chilled Mul Naengmyeon broth, which you prepared earlier, over the noodles. You can adjust the amount of broth to your preference; there’s no need to use the entire packet. Tailor the broth quantity to create your ideal level of coolness.
Step 8
Add the Bibim sauce and seasonings. Stir in the sweet and spicy Bibim sauce that comes with the Bibim Naengmyeon set. Regarding sesame oil, it’s optional and depends on your preference. Adding sesame oil after the broth can sometimes cause the oil to float on top, so consider omitting it or adding just a tiny drizzle at the very end.
Step 9
Garnish and complete the dish. Add a generous portion of the sweet and tangy pickled radish included in the Bibim Naengmyeon set. Place half of the pre-boiled egg on top for a beautifully presented mixed Naengmyeon.
Step 10
Mix well and enjoy! All the components are now ready. Use your chopsticks to thoroughly mix the noodles, sauce, and broth. Enjoy every delicious bite! The slightly soupy broth combined with the perfectly cooked noodles is truly superb. We hope this unique Naengmyeon recipe brings you a wonderful dining experience!
