Ingredients
  • Canned Tuna 100g (drained)
  • Firm Tofu 1/2 block (approx. 150g)
  • Egg 1
  • All-purpose Flour 3 Tbsp
  • Cooking Oil 2 Tbsp
  • Salt 1/2 tsp
  • Cheongyang Pepper 1 (seeds removed, minced)
  • Chives or Perilla Leaves, a small amount (finely chopped)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gather all the ingredients needed to make these delicious tofu tuna pancakes. Wash the vegetables thoroughly and pat them dry. Lightly press the tofu to drain some of its water.

Step 2

Finely chop the chives or perilla leaves. Mince the cheongyang pepper after removing the seeds. Mash the tofu using your hands or a fork until it’s crumbly. Drain the canned tuna very well using a sieve; this is key to a clean, non-greasy flavor.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the mashed tofu, drained tuna, chopped vegetables, egg, flour, and salt. Mix everything together well until it forms a cohesive mixture with a slightly sticky texture. Kneading it gently with your hands will help the ingredients meld together for a better taste. Taste and add a tiny pinch more salt if needed.

Step 4

Heat the cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Spoon portions of the mixture onto the pan, forming small, flat pancakes. Ensure you leave some space between each pancake so they don’t stick together.

Step 5

Cook over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crispy. It’s important to cook them thoroughly so the inside is also cooked through. Add a little more oil if the pan becomes too dry.

Step 6

This recipe yields approximately 16 delicious tofu tuna pancakes! They are lightly crisp on the outside, wonderfully moist on the inside, and have a mild, savory flavor that’s incredibly satisfying. Enjoy them while they’re warm for the best taste!
