Sweet & Crunchy Homemade Pepero (Almond & Crunch)
Gift Your Loved Ones! Super Easy No-Bake Almond Crunch Pepero Recipe
Hello everyone! This is Monbeihyang 🙂 Pepero Day is just around the corner, why not try making your own Pepero instead of buying it? We’ve enhanced the classic favorite with savory almonds and crunchy toppings to make it extra special. It’s incredibly easy and quick to make, even without an oven, so let’s get started!
Essential Ingredients
- Stick crackers (approx. 12cm length) 8 pieces
- Dark chocolate 30g
- White chocolate 10g
- Crunchy toppings (to your preference) as needed
- Almonds 2-3 whole
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 2-3 whole almonds. Finely chop them using a knife or a food chopper. Chopping them slightly coarse, so there’s a bit of texture, will make them even tastier.
Step 2
Prepare the dark and white chocolates. Place each type in a heatproof bowl and melt them slowly over a double boiler (a bowl set over simmering water). Alternatively, you can use a microwave on low heat, but melting slowly at a low temperature is key to prevent burning. Once you have smooth melted chocolate, you can mix them or keep them separate.
Step 3
Take out the 8 stick crackers you prepared. Using a small spatula or spoon, spread a moderate amount of the melted chocolate evenly onto each cracker. Applying a thin layer, where the cracker is slightly visible, makes for a prettier finish.
Step 4
Slightly tilt the cracker so the chocolate-coated side faces down. Then, gently shake the cracker left and right. This allows excess chocolate to drip off, creating a neat and uniform coating. Place the coated crackers on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper or a Teflon sheet.
Step 5
While the chocolate is still wet, generously sprinkle the pre-chopped almonds over the chocolate-coated crackers. The trick is to sprinkle them evenly so they adhere well to the chocolate.
Step 6
Now, let’s get creative with various crunchy toppings! Mix and sprinkle sprinkles, small chocolate balls, nuts, or any other crunchy bits you like to create a richer and more appealing Pepero. Of course, using just one type of crunch is perfectly fine and will still be delicious, so feel free to decorate according to your taste.
Step 7
Finally, arrange the decorated Pepero on a flat surface. Place them in the refrigerator or a cool, dry place until the chocolate is completely set. About 15-30 minutes should be enough for them to harden. Enjoy your homemade crunchy and sweet Pepero!
