Sweet & Creamy French Toast

Sweet & Creamy French Toast

Indulgent Egg Dish: Super Sweet French Toast Loaded with Extra Sweetness

I created this recipe out of a desire to find a use for leftover heavy cream from making jam! It’s an egg toast that’s perfect for a serious sugar rush. Hehe.

Ingredients
  • 2-3 slices of bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/4 Tbsp sugar (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • Cooking oil, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

You can use any kind of bread you like for this recipe! Hehe. The main ingredients are your favorite bread, eggs, and heavy cream that you have on hand.

Step 2

In a bowl, crack 2 eggs and add a pinch of salt. Then, add 4 tablespoons of heavy cream and whisk everything together until well combined. I used ‘Gold Label Vegetable Cream (Sweetened)’ because it adds a lovely richness! If you prefer, you can adjust the amount or type of cream.

Step 3

Let the bread slices soak in the egg mixture for a moment so they can absorb the liquid. This is key for a wonderfully moist French toast. Heat about 2-3 swirls of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the soaked bread into the pan and fry until golden brown. (Tip: French toast can burn easily, so it’s best to cook it over low heat!)

Step 4

Gently lift the edge of the toast with a fork or spatula to check if the bottom is cooked. If it looks golden and is starting to pull away from the pan, it’s ready to flip. If it seems like the bread and egg might separate, let it cook a little longer undisturbed. Once it’s fully detached and golden, carefully flip it over to cook the other side.

Step 5

Cook until both sides are beautifully golden brown. It’s delicious as is, but if you’re craving even more sweetness, a light sprinkle of sugar on top is wonderful! (For the photo, I added a pat of butter. You can skip it, but the way the warm toast and butter melt together creates a delightful nutty flavor.)

Step 6

It’s also fantastic served with any jam you have on hand! I tried it with apple jam, and the little bits of fruit added a lovely texture that made it irresistible. Enjoy creating your own perfect French toast with your favorite toppings like jams, fruits, or syrups!
