Super Easy Eomuk Bokkeum ♡ A Kid-Friendly Favorite!
This Eomuk Bokkeum (Korean fish cake stir-fry) is made with minimal garlic and other seasonings, making it mild and perfect for children. Its gentle, non-spicy flavor is a hit with kids. Enjoy this simple yet delicious side dish!
Ingredients
- 2 sheets of fish cakes (eomuk)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce (use mild or light soy sauce)
- 2 Tbsp corn syrup or rice syrup
- A tiny drizzle of oligosaccharide (optional, for adjusting sweetness)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Rectangles or squares about 3-4 cm are a good size. Place all the cut fish cakes into a pot. Add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, and a very small amount of oligosaccharide. If you prefer less sweetness or are concerned about stickiness, you can omit the oligosaccharide or add just a tiny bit.
Step 2
Now, place the pot over medium heat and stir-fry the fish cakes. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fish cakes are well coated with the sauce and have a glossy appearance. Make sure to stir frequently to prevent them from burning. The dish is ready when the sauce has thickened and evenly coated the fish cakes.
Step 3
Transfer the deliciously stir-fried fish cakes to a serving dish. They are especially wonderful when served warm, often disappearing quickly from kids’ plates! While many side dishes are stored in the refrigerator, this Eomuk Bokkeum is best enjoyed freshly made in small batches. Warm dishes tend to stimulate appetite and make meals more enjoyable for children. Enjoy your meal! ^^
