Basic Ingredients
- 1 Tortilla (approx. 20-25cm diameter)
- 2 fresh figs
- 1/4 mini kabocha squash (or about 100g of regular kabocha squash)
- 2 shiitake or button mushrooms
- 1 handful of mozzarella cheese (adjust to taste)
- 1.5 Tbsp butter (0.5 Tbsp for figs/squash, 1 Tbsp for pan coating)
- A small amount of your favorite nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.)
- A pinch of black sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the mini kabocha squash thoroughly. Place it in the microwave and cook for about 3 minutes and 30 seconds to lightly soften. This makes it easier to slice. Once cooked, cut the kabocha in half, remove the seeds, and slice it thinly, about 0.5cm thick.
Step 2
Take one tortilla and spread about 0.5 Tbsp of butter thinly over the inner side. The butter will help create a crispy texture and add flavor to the tortilla.
Step 3
Wash the fresh figs under running water, remove the stems, and cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 1.5cm in size. Now, arrange the thinly sliced kabocha squash and the cut figs attractively over the buttered tortilla. Spreading the ingredients without too much overlap will result in a more delicious pizza.
Step 4
Finely chop the shiitake or button mushrooms and sprinkle them evenly over the pizza. The mushrooms’ aroma will deepen the pizza’s flavor profile.
Step 5
Now, prepare the pan for cooking the pizza. Add the remaining 1 Tbsp of butter to the pan and melt it slowly over very low heat. Be mindful of the heat; if the pan is too hot, the tortilla can burn.
Step 6
Carefully place the prepared tortilla pizza onto the melted butter in the pan. Generously sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top. Ensure the cheese covers the edges for a more appetizing look.
Step 7
Cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat until the cheese is melted and golden, and the ingredients are heated through. This typically takes about 3-5 minutes. Monitor the cheese melting and adjust the heat as needed.
Step 8
Once the mozzarella cheese is completely melted and stringy, immediately turn off the heat. Sprinkle your prepared almonds or favorite nuts attractively over the pizza. The crunchiness and nutty flavor of the nuts will make the pizza even more satisfying.
Step 9
Finally, sprinkle a pinch of black sesame seeds. This adds visual appeal and a subtle nutty taste, enhancing the overall flavor of your fig and kabocha squash pizza.
Step 10
Carefully remove the finished pizza from the pan and cut it into desired portions. Enjoy it warm immediately. You’ll savor a healthy pizza bursting with sweetness, freshness, and a delightful nuttiness!
