Main Ingredients
- 1 bowl of cooked rice (approx. 200g)
- 1 sheet of pre-made Tteokgalbi (thawed)
- A little bit of onion (about 1/4 small onion)
- A little bit of carrot
- A little bit of zucchini
- A little bit of bell pepper (any color you like)
Seasoning & Others
- 0.5 tablespoon oyster sauce (approx. 7ml)
- 2-3 tablespoons cooking oil (approx. 30-45ml)
- Pinch of black pepper (to taste)
- 0.5 tablespoon oyster sauce (approx. 7ml)
- 2-3 tablespoons cooking oil (approx. 30-45ml)
- Pinch of black pepper (to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, make sure to completely thaw the frozen Tteokgalbi before cooking. Once thawed, cut the Tteokgalbi into small, bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm). This helps the flavors meld well when stir-frying with the rice and improves the texture.
Step 2
Finely mince all the vegetables you’ve prepared. You can use a knife or a food processor for this. Finely chopped vegetables integrate better into the fried rice and make it more palatable, especially for children. Feel free to use any other vegetables you have on hand, such as mushrooms or green beans.
Step 3
Heat 2-3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the minced vegetables and stir-fry until they become slightly tender and fragrant. Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning. The onions should turn translucent.
Step 4
Once the vegetables are softened and fragrant, add the cut Tteokgalbi to the pan. Stir-fry quickly, mixing it well with the vegetables. The Tteokgalbi will cook through and release its delicious savory aroma.
Step 5
When the Tteokgalbi and vegetables are well combined, add the bowl of warm rice and 0.5 tablespoon of oyster sauce. Stir-fry everything together until the rice is evenly coated and heated through. It’s important to break up any clumps of rice with your spatula as you stir-fry. The oyster sauce will add a wonderful umami depth to the entire dish.
Step 6
Finally, add a pinch of black pepper to taste for an extra layer of flavor. Once everything is well mixed and heated through, turn off the heat. Serve immediately in a bowl. Enjoy your delicious Tteokgalbi Fried Rice!
