Ingredients
  • 1 can (410g) whole peeled tomatoes
  • 550ml water
  • 100g spaghetti
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 20g butter
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
  • Pinch of black pepper (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Pour the entire can of whole peeled tomatoes, including the juice, into a deep pan or pot. Use kitchen scissors or a spatula to roughly chop the tomatoes into bite-sized pieces. This helps the sauce to absorb better and enhances the flavor. Don’t worry if there are still chunks; they will break down during cooking.

Step 2

Add 550ml of water to the pan with the tomatoes. Next, stir in 1 Tbsp of sugar for sweetness, 2 Tbsp of soy sauce for umami, and 0.5 tsp of salt for seasoning. Give it a gentle stir to combine everything, then bring it to a boil over high heat.

Step 3

Once the sauce is boiling vigorously, add 100g of spaghetti and 20g of butter for richness. Use tongs or a fork to gently loosen the spaghetti so it’s submerged in the sauce. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. It’s important to stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom.

Step 4

After about 10 minutes, check if the sauce has thickened and the pasta has absorbed most of the liquid. If the sauce seems too thick, you can add a little more water. Finally, stir in 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic for extra aroma and flavor, then sprinkle with a pinch of black pepper. Your delicious one-pan whole tomato pasta is ready! Enjoy your meal.
