Witch Finger Cookie Dough Ingredients
  • 90g Cake flour
  • 15g Almond flour
  • 35g Sugar
  • 15g Egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 45g Unsalted butter (room temperature, softened)
  • 15 Whole almonds (for fingernails)
  • Strawberry jam or raspberry jam, as needed (for blood effect)
  • A pinch of cocoa powder (for rough skin texture)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the butter to be softened. Add the room-temperature butter, which should be soft enough to be pliable, to a bowl. Gradually add the sugar in 2-3 installments and mix thoroughly with a whisk until it becomes light and creamy. Properly creaming the butter and sugar is key to ensuring the cookies aren’t too hard.

Step 2

Lightly beat the room-temperature egg. Add it gradually in two portions to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing gently each time. To prevent the mixture from curdling, don’t add all the egg at once; add it little by little and mix quickly.

Step 3

Now it’s time to add the dry ingredients to form the dough. Sift the cake flour, baking powder, and almond flour together over the butter mixture. Use a spatula or your hands to gently mix until just combined and no dry flour streaks remain. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough. Mix only until the flour is incorporated.

Step 4

Once the dough is ready, take small portions and shape them into long, finger-like pieces. Gently bend the dough to create knuckle shapes for a more natural look. Place the shaped cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them.

Step 5

Using a toothpick or the back of a thin knife, carefully create wrinkles and lines to represent the knuckles on each finger. Adding these details will make your cookies look even more realistic and fun.

Step 6

To mimic fingernails, press a whole almond onto the tip of each cookie finger. Ensure it’s pressed firmly, as it might sink slightly during baking. For a more gruesome effect, you can mix a tiny bit of cocoa powder with water to create a paste, then use a small brush to dab it on to resemble scabs or a rougher skin texture. A touch of strawberry or raspberry jam can add a bloody, realistic touch!

Step 7

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes. The cookies are done when the edges turn golden brown. Baking time may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on them. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Your spooky and sweet Witch Finger Cookies are ready to haunt and delight!
