Gochujang Butter Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Honey
  • 2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp Parmesan cheese (if unavailable, substitute with another hard cheese)
  • 180g Butter (softened to room temperature)

Main Ingredients
  • Baguette
  • Frozen seafood mix (e.g., shrimp, squid, scallops)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the gochujang butter sauce. In a large bowl, combine the softened butter, honey, gochujang, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix them thoroughly with a spatula or fork until smooth and well combined. Ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Step 2

Wrap the prepared gochujang butter mixture in parchment paper or plastic wrap, shaping it into a log or desired form. Refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or until firm. This chilling process will make it easier to spread on the baguette.

Step 3

Slice the baguette into your preferred serving sizes. For an extra crispy texture, lightly brush the cut sides of the baguette with olive oil and toast them in an air fryer at 200°C (400°F) for about 1 minute. (If you prefer to avoid the richness of olive oil, you can skip this step.)

Step 4

Generously spread the chilled gochujang butter onto the sliced baguette. Place the buttered baguette slices back into the air fryer and cook at 200°C (400°F) for another minute. The butter will melt, infusing the bread with its delicious flavor.

Step 5

Your spicy and sweet gochujang butter baguette is ready! For an enhanced presentation and taste, you can garnish with avocado slices and freshly ground black pepper.

Step 6

Next, let’s make the grilled seafood. Place your chosen frozen seafood (shrimp, squid, scallops, etc.) on a baking sheet or in an air fryer basket. Spoon a generous amount of the gochujang butter mixture on top of the seafood. Cook in a preheated air fryer or oven at 200°C (400°F) for approximately 10 minutes, or until the seafood is cooked through and slightly caramelized. The gochujang butter will create a wonderful glaze.

Step 7

Finally, artfully arrange the gochujang butter baguette and grilled seafood on a platter for a stunning appetizer. If you find it a bit rich, a dash of Tabasco sauce can add a nice kick, cutting through the richness and enhancing the overall flavor profile. Enjoy your sophisticated homemade snack!
