Homemade Chicken Snack Wrap Recipe: Your Perfect Beer Companion!
This chicken snack wrap is incredibly easy to make with simple ingredients, perfect for anyone to try. The combination of spicy Cheongyang peppers, tender chicken tenders, and crisp lettuce creates a delightful harmony, elevated by a special sauce for an extra burst of flavor. It’s ideal as a beer snack or even a light meal replacement!
Ingredients
- 2 Tortillas
- 4-6 Chicken Tenders (or leftover fried chicken, chicken breast)
- 3-4 Lettuce Leaves
- 1-2 Cheongyang Peppers (adjust to your spice preference)
- 3 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 6 Tbsp Mustard
- A little Cooking Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Gently tear about 3-4 lettuce leaves into bite-sized pieces. Tearing by hand preserves a better texture than cutting with a knife.
Step 2
Wash the torn lettuce leaves thoroughly under cold running water. It’s crucial to drain the water completely by placing them in a colander. Excess water can make the wrap soggy.
Step 3
To add a spicy kick, remove the stems from 1-2 Cheongyang peppers, halve them, and carefully scrape out the seeds. Finely mince the peppers. I used two, but feel free to add more if you enjoy a spicier taste. Their piquant flavor is truly captivating.
Step 4
Now, let’s make the special sauce that defines the chicken snack wrap! In a bowl, combine 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 6 tablespoons of mustard. Add the minced Cheongyang peppers. (Tip: For an extra zest and crunch, finely chop some pickles and add them to the sauce. My husband loves adding pickles to his!) Mix everything together until smooth to complete the sauce.
Step 5
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken tenders and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides. If you don’t have chicken tenders, you can use leftover fried chicken or cut chicken breast into pieces and fry them for a delicious alternative.
Step 6
While the chicken tenders are frying, place the tortillas in a separate dry pan. Grill each side over medium-low heat until lightly golden. This step adds a wonderful chewiness and enhances the tortilla’s flavor.
Step 7
Lay a grilled tortilla flat. Generously spread the drained, crisp lettuce leaves over it. Then, artfully arrange the golden-brown, crispy chicken tenders on top.
Step 8
Now, drizzle the prepared spicy and sweet special sauce generously over the chicken tenders and lettuce. Don’t be shy with the sauce; it makes all the difference!
Step 9
This is the final step! To prevent the filling from falling out, fold in the sides of the tortilla first. Then, starting from the bottom, roll it up tightly towards the top. Your delicious chicken snack wrap is now complete! Aim for a neat and compact roll.
Step 10
You can enjoy the finished chicken snack wrap immediately by hand! If you’ve made several or need to pack them for later, wrap each one tightly in parchment paper to keep them from unraveling. This helps maintain their shape and makes them easy to eat on the go.
