Main Ingredients
  • 30 fresh lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 onion
  • 5 green onions

Spicy & Tangy Dressing
  • 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1.5 Tbsp vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently rinse the fresh lettuce leaves under cold running water, shaking them to remove any dirt or debris. Drain them thoroughly in a colander. This ensures they are clean and will be extra crisp in the salad.

Step 2

Once the water has drained, trim off the tough ends of the lettuce leaves. This makes them easier to eat and helps the dressing to penetrate better.

Step 3

Thinly slice the onion into julienne strips. Trim and cut the green onions into pieces of a similar length. These vegetables will add a delightful crunch and flavor to your salad.

Step 4

In a mixing bowl, combine all the dressing ingredients: gochugaru, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Whisk them together thoroughly until well combined to create a flavorful dressing.

Step 5

Add the sliced green onions and onions to the dressing first. Gently toss them to coat evenly. Marinating the vegetables in the dressing before adding the lettuce allows the flavors to meld beautifully.

Step 6

Finally, tear the prepared lettuce leaves into bite-sized pieces and add them to the bowl. Use a spoon or chopsticks to gently toss everything together until the lettuce is lightly coated. Be careful not to over-mix, as this will keep the lettuce crisp. Serve immediately and enjoy!
