This recipe transforms a simple instant ramen into a gourmet experience using ingredients readily available in your fridge. It’s the perfect way to add some excitement to your afternoon and invigorate your senses.
Main Ingredients
- 1 packet spicy ramen noodles
- 5-6 slices beef brisket (thinly sliced, ‘usambgyeopsal’)
- 2 Korean green chilies (Cheongyang peppers)
- 1 red chili pepper
- 1/3 stalk large green onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 leaves spring cabbage (or Napa cabbage)
- A small amount of onion (about 1/4)
- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
Seasoning
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all your vegetables. Wash them thoroughly. Thinly julienne the onion and spring cabbage. Finely chop the green and red chili peppers (remove seeds if desired for less heat). Thinly slice the garlic.
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and green onion and sauté until fragrant and lightly golden. This step builds a wonderful aromatic base.
Step 3
In a separate pot, bring a generous amount of water to a rolling boil. Add the ramen noodles and the soup base packet. Cook the noodles according to package directions, but aim for slightly undercooked as they will cook further when stir-fried.
Step 4
When the noodles are almost done, add the beef brisket slices to the boiling water and cook until they are no longer pink. Carefully drain the noodles and beef brisket. Rinse them briefly under cold water and drain thoroughly in a colander. This helps prevent the noodles from becoming mushy.
Step 5
Add the drained noodles and beef brisket to the pan with the sautéed garlic and green onions. Toss in the julienned onion and spring cabbage.
Step 6
Stir-fry everything together. Add the chopped green and red chilies. Add about half of the ramen soup base packet (adjust to your spice preference). Continue to stir-fry, mixing well and tasting to adjust the seasoning. If you like it spicier, feel free to add more soup base or a touch of gochujang (Korean chili paste).
Step 7
Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for extra flavor and give it a final toss. Transfer the delicious stir-fried beef brisket ramen to a serving bowl. Enjoy this restaurant-worthy meal made right at home!
