Main Ingredients
- Dried shredded squid (Ojing-eochae) 100g
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp Mirin or Soju
Seasoning Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 4 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 4 Tbsp Oligodang (Corn Syrup)
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- A pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cut the dried shredded squid into bite-sized pieces (about 5-7cm) using scissors or a knife. If they are too long, they can be difficult to eat.
Step 2
Place the prepared dried shredded squid in a bowl. Add 2 Tbsp of mayonnaise and 2 Tbsp of mirin (or soju) and mix well. This will make the squid more moist, help the sauce adhere better, and result in a tender texture. Let it marinate for about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and sauté slowly. Stir-fry until the garlic is golden brown and fragrant to bring out its flavor.
Step 4
Once the garlic is golden brown, add 3 Tbsp of soy sauce, 2 Tbsp of mayonnaise, and 4 Tbsp of oligodang to the pan. Simmer over low heat. You can also use corn syrup or rice syrup instead of oligodang. Be careful not to burn the sauce as it simmers briefly.
Step 5
As soon as the sauce starts to bubble, turn off the heat. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become too salty or burn.
Step 6
Add the mayonnaise-marinated dried shredded squid to the pan with the heat turned off. Quickly toss to coat the squid evenly with the hot sauce. Stir well to ensure the residual heat from the pan and the sauce coat the squid thoroughly.
Step 7
Finally, drizzle in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for added aroma. You can add more sesame seeds to your preference.
Step 8
Here’s your delicious soy sauce braised dried shredded squid, made with simple steps! It’s perfect as a children’s snack or a side dish for rice. Enjoy your meal! 🙂
