Soft Air Fryer Sweet Potato Pizza: Guilt-Free & Delicious
Easy Homemade Air Fryer Sweet Potato Pizza Recipe (No Flour!)
While you can make this pizza on the stovetop, today we’re using an air fryer for a super convenient and delicious ‘spoonable’ sweet potato pizza. Enjoy a healthy, satisfying pizza at home without any flour!
Main Ingredients
- 2 medium sweet potatoes
- 2 slices of ham (deli-style)
- Jalapeños (to taste)
- 1/4 onion
- Olives (to taste)
- 4-5 Tbsp spaghetti sauce (or tomato sauce)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (approx. 100g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the toppings for your pizza. Feel free to use up any leftover ingredients you have in the fridge! Slice the ham into bite-sized pieces and thinly slice the onion. Adjust the amount of jalapeños and olives based on your preference, or omit them if you like.
Step 2
Have your spaghetti sauce, which will add flavor, and plenty of stretchy mozzarella cheese ready.
Step 3
Line the bottom of your air fryer basket with two layers of aluminum foil. (One layer might tear easily, so doubling up makes it sturdy.) Lightly grease the foil; this helps the sweet potato base become extra crispy when baked.
Step 4
Cook the 2 medium sweet potatoes until they are soft, either by boiling or steaming. Once cooked, peel them while still warm and mash them thoroughly with a fork or potato masher. Spread the mashed sweet potato evenly onto the prepared pizza pan to form your pizza base. Then, spread the spaghetti sauce evenly over the sweet potato layer.
Step 5
Generously sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the spaghetti sauce.
Step 6
Arrange your prepared toppings, such as the sliced ham, onions, olives, and jalapeños, attractively over the cheese.
Step 7
Add another generous layer of mozzarella cheese on top of the toppings. Plenty of cheese makes the pizza look and taste even better!
Step 8
Now it’s time to air fry! Select the pizza setting on your air fryer, or bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 15 minutes. Cook until the cheese is melted and golden brown, and the toppings are heated through.
Step 9
Your delicious sweet potato pizza is ready! The combination of golden melted cheese and warm sweet potato is absolutely delightful.
Step 10
If you plan to eat it directly from the pan, transferring it to a plate might be a bit tricky. We recommend bringing the pan straight to the table and enjoying it with a spoon, just like a ‘spoonable’ pizza. It’s a convenient way to eat it!
Step 11
Since this pizza contains no flour, it’s easy to digest and very healthy. It makes a wonderful snack for kids or a light meal alternative.
Step 12
For reference, this photo shows a sweet potato pizza I made using a frying pan about two years ago.
Step 13
Making it in a frying pan results in a crispier bottom, which is uniquely delicious, but it requires you to constantly watch it on the stove. Using an air fryer makes the process much simpler and more convenient.
