Savory and Crispy Oven-Roasted Peanuts
Super Simple Recipe for Roasting Peanuts in the Oven
Got raw peanuts and don’t want the hassle of pan-roasting? If you have an oven, there’s an incredibly easy way to get them perfectly roasted and deliciously nutty! Let’s make delicious snacks at home effortlessly.
Ingredients
- Raw peanuts, about 1 cup (approx. 200g)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your well-dried raw peanuts. Hold a peanut vertically. You’ll notice a central seam running down the shell, and one end is round while the other is slightly pointed. Target the pointed end. Press firmly with your fingertip, and the shell should pop open easily, revealing the peanut kernel inside. Gently crack open the shells.
Step 2
Place the shelled peanut kernels onto an oven-safe baking sheet or tray. Spread them out evenly in a single layer. Leaving a little space between each peanut will help them roast more uniformly.
Step 3
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the peanuts directly into the oven without preheating, and roast for about 18-20 minutes. If you preheat the oven first, then place the peanuts inside, they will likely need only about 13 minutes. Ovens can vary greatly, so keep an eye on the peanuts and check their color and aroma midway through to adjust the roasting time. You’ll be amazed at how delicious they turn out!
Step 4
Once roasted, carefully remove the peanuts from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool. You’ll hear a ‘pop-pop’ sound as they cool. Wait until this crackling sound completely stops and the peanuts are no longer warm to the touch – just comfortably cooled. At this point, the shells will come off very easily.
Step 5
Trying to shell the peanuts while they are still hot can be a bit tricky, as the shells tend to stick. You might be tempted to grab one right out of the oven due to their inviting appearance and aroma. However, patience is key! Wait until they are completely cool for the easiest shelling experience. It’s worth the wait!
Step 6
As the peanuts roast in the oven, a wonderful, nutty aroma will begin to fill your kitchen. When this aroma intensifies, it’s a sign that they are nearing perfection but could burn soon. It’s best to take them out within a minute or so of noticing this strong scent – trust me, based on experience! This method makes roasting peanuts incredibly simple and delicious. Enjoy your perfectly roasted snack! ^^
