  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 0.5 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • A little cooking oil
  • A pinch of black pepper

Seasoning Ingredients
  • 0.5 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 0.5 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 0.5 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
  • 2 tsp vinegar

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients for a delicious Sautéed Brussels Sprouts dish. Washing and trimming them cleanly will make the cooking process much smoother.

Step 2

Trim the tough ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half, along with the cherry tomatoes, into bite-sized pieces. This is a great opportunity to involve kids in the kitchen for some fun!

Step 3

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add a little cooking oil. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, creating a garlic-infused oil. Once the garlic aroma is released, add the measured amounts of soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, corn syrup, cooking wine, and vinegar to create the sauce.

Step 4

Let the sauce simmer and bubble gently over medium-low heat until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together beautifully.

Step 5

Once the sauce is simmering, add the prepared Brussels sprouts to the pan. It’s best to maintain a medium-low heat at this stage.

Step 6

Sauté the Brussels sprouts for about 1 to 2 minutes until they are tender-crisp. It’s important not to overcook them, as they can become mushy. You want to maintain a pleasant bite.

Step 7

When the Brussels sprouts are slightly cooked, add the cherry tomatoes and stir gently for a few moments, tossing them with the sprouts. Be careful not to crush the tomatoes.

Step 8

Since cherry tomatoes are delicious eaten raw, sauté them for a very short time, about 30 seconds, just enough for them to absorb a hint of the sauce. This method helps preserve their fresh taste.

Step 9

Finally, turn off the heat. Sprinkle a pinch of black pepper for added flavor and a generous amount of toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma.

Step 10

Drizzle with a little sesame oil and give everything a final gentle toss to combine. Your delicious Sautéed Brussels Sprouts are ready to be enjoyed! Serve warm with rice.
