Ingredients
  • 2 fresh plums
  • 1 dried plum (prune)
  • 5 pine nuts
  • Dasik mold (traditional Korean cookie press)
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1/3 cup mixed grain flour (approx. 40g)
  • 1 Tbsp strawberry powder
  • 1 Tbsp green tea powder
  • 1 Tbsp perilla oil (or sesame oil)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gather all your ingredients for making the delicious Plum Grain Dasik. Ensure your fresh plums are washed and pitted, and have your pine nuts ready for a delightful crunch.

Step 2

Thoroughly wash the fresh plums under running water. Remove the pits and chop them into small, manageable pieces. Make sure no pits remain.

Step 3

Place the chopped fresh plums and the honey into a blender. Blend until you achieve a smooth, pureed consistency. The smoother the puree, the better the texture of your dasik.

Step 4

In a large bowl, combine the mixed grain flour with the plum and honey puree. Mix well with a spatula or your hands until a cohesive dough forms. Adjust the consistency if needed – it should be firm enough to mold but not too dry.

Step 5

Divide the dough into small portions, about the size of a marble. Roll each portion into a smooth ball. Ensuring uniform size will help the dasik look neat when pressed in the mold.

Step 6

Line your dasik mold with plastic wrap. Lightly brush the wrap with a drop or two of perilla oil to prevent sticking. Place a dough ball into the lined mold and press down firmly with your fingers or a tool, shaping it according to the mold’s design.

Step 7

Carefully lift the plastic wrap out of the mold. The dasik should come out cleanly attached to the wrap. Check that it has released from the mold without damage.

Step 8

For the garnish, thinly peel the dried plum (prune) in a spiral. Carefully unroll it and place a pine nut in the center. Roll it up tightly to form a decorative garnish. Secure it so the pine nut doesn’t fall out.

Step 9

Arrange the finished dasik attractively on a serving plate. Lightly dust with strawberry powder, green tea powder, and a bit of grain flour for color. Finally, place the prepared dried plum and pine nut garnish on top to complete your beautiful and healthy Plum Grain Dasik. Enjoy chilled for a refreshing treat!
