Ingredients
  • 30g frozen shrimp (thawed and washed, finely chopped)
  • 50g fresh cabbage (thinly shredded)
  • 1 fresh egg
  • 1 Tbsp pancake mix
  • 1 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a large bowl or measuring cup, combine the thinly shredded fresh cabbage (50g) and the fresh egg (1). Using a generously sized bowl will make mixing easier.

Step 2

Add 1 Tbsp of pancake mix. If you don’t have pancake mix, you can substitute with a mix of all-purpose flour and cornstarch, or glutinous rice flour. For babies, it’s best to use pure ingredients that highlight their natural flavors without added seasoning.

Step 3

Add 1 Tbsp of water. This helps adjust the batter’s consistency. The amount of water can be adjusted based on the type of pancake mix and the moisture content of the cabbage. Aim for a batter that is not too runny.

Step 4

Using a spatula or spoon, stir all the ingredients together until well combined and a smooth batter is formed. Ensuring there are no lumps will help you create beautiful pancakes.

Step 5

Thaw the frozen shrimp in cold water, then wash them thoroughly under running water. Pat them dry and finely chop them with a knife. Chopping them into small, bite-sized pieces is important for your baby’s safety.

Step 6

Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil. Using too much oil can make the pancakes greasy for your baby, so use a moderate amount.

Step 7

Pour the prepared batter into the heated pan in small, flat rounds. Evenly spread the finely chopped shrimp over the batter. Keep the heat on low to ensure the pancakes cook slowly without burning.

Step 8

Cover the pan with a lid and cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is lightly golden. Carefully flip the pancake and cook the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes. Cooking with the lid on helps ensure the inside cooks through evenly.

Step 9

Once both sides are a beautiful golden brown, they are ready! Let them cool slightly before cutting them into manageable pieces for your baby. Gently reheating them in the microwave can make them even softer.
