Omelette Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- Pinch of salt
- 1/3 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 portion kimchi, finely chopped
- Pinch of black pepper
- Pinch of sesame seeds
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 2-3 minutes. This brings out the natural sweetness of the onion.
Step 2
Add the finely chopped kimchi to the pan with the onions. Stir-fry together for another 3-4 minutes until the kimchi is well cooked and fragrant. This process mellows the kimchi’s tartness and enhances its flavor.
Step 3
Once the kimchi and onions are well stir-fried, carefully transfer the mixture to a small plate and set aside. These will be your omelette filling.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, crack the 2 eggs. Add a pinch of salt and whisk vigorously until the yolks and whites are fully combined and slightly frothy. Adjust salt to your taste, or omit if preferred.
Step 5
Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of cooking oil to the clean pan and heat over medium-low heat. Once the pan is hot, pour the whisked egg mixture evenly into the pan.
Step 6
After about 2 minutes, when the edges of the egg are set but the center is still slightly runny, evenly spoon the cooked kimchi and onion mixture onto one half of the omelette.
Step 7
Sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds and a pinch of black pepper over the filling. This adds a nice touch of flavor and aroma.
Step 8
While the egg is still moist, carefully fold the unfilled half of the omelette over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to ensure the inside is gently cooked.
Step 9
Gently slide the omelette onto a plate. If you prefer a more browned exterior, you can carefully flip the omelette and cook the other side for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Step 10
Transfer the perfectly cooked Kimchi Omelette to a serving plate. For an extra touch of color, you can optionally sprinkle a little parsley flakes on top.
Step 11
Serve immediately and enjoy as is, or drizzle with your favorite condiments like ketchup or sriracha sauce for an extra kick. Enjoy your delicious meal!
