Ingredients
  • Fresh Mandarin Oranges: As many as you like (choose ones that aren’t too soft)
  • Baking Soda or Flour: For scrubbing the orange peels to remove impurities

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Wash the Mandarin Oranges: It’s crucial to wash the peels thoroughly, as they might have unseen dirt or wax. Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda or flour onto the oranges and gently scrub the peels with your hands. This thorough cleaning helps to enhance the fresh aroma of the oranges.

Step 2

Slice the Mandarin Oranges: Slice the washed oranges thinly, about 0.5 cm thick. If they are too thick, the drying time will be longer, and if too thin, they might break apart. Maintaining a consistent thickness is key. If you find any seeds, removing them will result in a cleaner final product.

Step 3

Dry the Slices: Arrange the sliced mandarin oranges evenly on your dehydrator trays. Dry them at a temperature of around 60-70°C (140-158°F) for about 8-10 hours, or overnight. They are ready when they become translucent, slightly golden at the edges, and feel crisp and not sticky to the touch. Adjust the drying time based on your dehydrator’s specifications.
