Here’s a recipe for soft and delicious homemade hot dog buns, perfect as a healthy snack for your 31-month-old toddler or 4-year-old. Packed with nutrients beneficial for your child’s development, you can make these with peace of mind.
Main Ingredients
- 30g steamed and mashed sweet potato
- 20g soft rice flour
- 30ml fresh milk
- 1 fresh egg
- 3 child-friendly sausages
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Lightly blanch the sausages in hot water. This helps remove impurities and makes them softer for your child to enjoy.
Step 2
Cut the blanched sausages in half to a size that’s easy for your child to eat. Very long pieces can be difficult to manage.
Step 3
In a clean, wide bowl, combine the softly mashed steamed sweet potato (30g) and fresh milk (30ml). Sweet potatoes provide excellent carbohydrates and vitamins for children.
Step 4
Add the fresh egg (1) and the rice flour (20g, sifted for a smoother texture) to the bowl. Whisk or stir everything together until you have a smooth batter with no lumps.
Step 5
Pour the well-mixed batter into hot dog bun molds that are suitable for microwave or oven use, filling them about two-thirds full. Arrange the prepared, cut sausage pieces attractively on top of the batter.
Step 6
Important! Please ensure that the molds you are using are safe for microwave or oven use. Safety is the top priority when preparing food for children.
Step 7
Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 15 minutes. Check that the buns are golden brown and cooked through. Your delicious homemade hot dog buns are ready! Enjoy a fun snack time with your child.
