Nutritious Tofu and Egg Roll: How to Make a Soft and Satisfying Egg Roll for Breakfast
Let’s make a healthy and filling Tofu and Egg Roll. Its soft texture and rich protein make it an excellent meal replacement.
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 block firm tofu
- 4 large eggs
- 3 Tbsp water
- Pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Today, we’re going to make a delicious Tofu and Egg Roll that will help you start your day feeling satisfied. It’s easy enough for anyone to follow!
Step 2
First, prepare half a block of firm tofu. It’s crucial to remove as much moisture as possible from the tofu. By pressing it firmly with your hands to squeeze out the water, you’ll ensure it holds together better when cooking and results in a firmer texture.
Step 3
Separate the 4 eggs into yolks and whites. To the egg whites, add the squeezed-out tofu. Mash the tofu finely with a fork or chopsticks until smooth and well combined. Ensuring the tofu is mashed without lumps is key.
Step 4
Add a tiny pinch of salt to the mixture of tofu and egg whites to season it. Be careful not to add too much, as it can become too salty. It’s best to taste and adjust as needed.
Step 5
Now, heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Pour the egg white and tofu mixture into the pan. Spread it thinly, like making a thin omelet (jidan), and cook until it’s golden brown. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent burning.
Step 6
When the tofu-egg white layer is almost cooked, leaving the center slightly undercooked, carefully place the egg yolk layer you prepared earlier on top. Now, just like making a regular egg roll, use a spatula or chopsticks to gently roll it up, section by section. Rolling it multiple times will help it cook through and look beautiful.
Step 7
And there you have it – a soft Tofu and Egg Roll, packed with goodness! Let it cool slightly, then slice it into bite-sized pieces for a delightful presentation.
Step 8
With the addition of tofu, this egg roll is much heartier and more filling than a standard one. It’s a simple yet nutritious option, making it an excellent choice for breakfast or a light meal replacement.
