Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s start by making the dog-friendly tart base. In a bowl, combine 1 cup of rice flour (or cake flour), 1 egg, and 3 tablespoons of coconut oil or canola oil. Mix everything together until it forms a cohesive dough. Using rice flour is recommended as it’s easier for dogs to digest. If you don’t have coconut oil, feel free to use canola oil, as both are safe for dogs.

Step 2

Once the dough is mixed, place it in a plastic bag, seal it, and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This chilling period makes the dough easier to handle and shape in the tart pan.

Step 3

While the dough is chilling, prepare the delicious topping ingredients for your dog. You can customize the toppings with your dog’s favorite ingredients! For instance, spreading mashed cooked sweet pumpkin or sweet potato on the tart base adds nutrition and sweetness. Prepare vegetables that your dog can eat, such as cooked and finely chopped carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, or mushrooms. You can also include cooked protein like chicken breast, beef, pork, or duck.

Step 4

Take the chilled dough and thinly press it onto the bottom and sides of your tart pan. Lightly greasing the pan with coconut oil or canola oil will prevent the dough from sticking. After lining the pan, use a fork to prick the bottom of the dough several times. This helps prevent the crust from puffing up during baking and ensures even cooking. If you don’t have a tart pan, a sturdy aluminum foil tray can also be used to shape the cake.

Step 5

Fill the tart crust with the mashed cooked sweet pumpkin. Alternatively, you can use mashed cooked sweet potato as a delicious base layer.

Step 6

Cut the hard-boiled egg into bite-sized pieces (e.g., quarters or eighths) and arrange them beautifully on top of the cake as a garnish. Add the finely chopped cooked vegetables as well, creating a colorful and appealing topping.

Step 7

Cut the cooked chicken tenderloins into pieces that are easy for your dog to chew and arrange them attractively on the cake. If you’re using a different type of cooked meat, cut it into appropriate sizes and place it on top.

Step 8

Place the assembled cake into a preheated oven at 200°C (390°F) and bake for about 15 minutes. The cake is ready when the crust is lightly golden and the inside is cooked through. Adjust the baking time based on your oven’s specifications. Your dog’s special birthday cake is now complete!
