Emmental Cheese Nougat Crackers (Makes 8-10 crackers)
- 2 slices Emmental cheese
- 80-100g mini marshmallows (or 40-50g regular marshmallows)
- 16-20 plain crackers
- 10g unsalted butter
- A pinch of dried parsley (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients for your delicious Emmental cheese nougat crackers. You’ll need 2 slices of Emmental cheese, 80-100g of marshmallows, 16-20 crackers, 10g of unsalted butter, and optionally, some dried parsley.
Step 2
First, melt the 10g of unsalted butter in a pan over low heat. It’s important to let the butter melt slowly without burning.
Step 3
Once the butter is fully melted, keep the heat on low and add the marshmallows. Stir continuously as they melt, which should take about 2-3 minutes until they become gooey and smooth. Be sure to maintain low heat to prevent the marshmallows from burning.
Step 4
When the marshmallows are about halfway melted, add the 2 slices of Emmental cheese. Stir them together, allowing the cheese to melt and naturally blend with the marshmallows, creating a richer flavor.
Step 5
Continue stirring with a spatula for about 3-4 minutes until the cheese and marshmallows are completely combined into a smooth, sticky mixture. Once everything is well incorporated, turn off the heat.
Step 6
Let the cheese and marshmallow mixture cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. If it’s too hot, it might melt the crackers or cause them to lose their shape. Once the mixture starts to slightly firm up, spoon your desired amount onto each cracker.
Step 7
Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese-marshmallow mixture you put on each cracker according to your preference. You can be generous for an extra chewy bite or use a smaller amount for a lighter treat.
Step 8
Your chewy, sweet, and savory Emmental cheese nougat crackers are now ready! They are best enjoyed while still slightly warm.
Step 9
For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a touch of butter and parsley to your crackers. Briefly microwave a small piece of butter (about 10 seconds) until just melted, then mix it with the dried parsley.
Step 10
Using a pastry brush or the back of a spoon, spread a thin layer of the butter-parsley mixture onto the top of the crackers. The parsley will add a subtle aroma.
Step 11
Place the crackers with the butter-parsley mixture onto a pan and toast them gently over low heat for about 3 minutes. The goal is to make the crackers slightly crisp and infuse them with the buttery aroma without burning.
Step 12
After toasting, repeat the process of topping the crackers with the cheese-marshmallow mixture and letting it set (refer back to steps 5-7) for an even more flavorful nougat cracker.
Step 13
These Emmental cheese nougat crackers, made with Seoul Milk Emmental cheese, are incredibly savory and delicious! Anyone can easily make them at home. The perfect balance of salty and sweet makes them a must-try treat!
