  • Ingredient Category : Rice
  • Occasion : Lunchbox
  • Cooking : Mixed (Bibim-style)
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • Inarizushi Kit (for 1 serving)
  • 535g Cooked Rice (approx. 3 bowls)

Additional Ingredients (Optional)

  • 64g Imitation Crab Sticks
  • 27g Braised Kimbap Burdock Root

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the braised burdock root for kimbap. Finely mince it using a fork or a knife. If you prefer a bit more texture, you can chop it slightly coarser.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, prepare the imitation crab sticks. Shred them finely or chop them into small pieces with a knife. Shredding them larger can add a pleasant chewiness.

Step 2

Step 3

Take out the seasoned fried tofu pouches from the Inarizushi kit. Carefully open each pouch by gently separating the edges. It’s important to handle them delicately to avoid tearing.

Step 3

Step 4

Your ingredients are now ready! Prepping everything beforehand significantly cuts down on cooking time.

Step 4

Step 5

Transfer the warm cooked rice into a large bowl. If the rice is too hot, it might be difficult to handle when mixing with the tofu. It’s best to use rice that is comfortably warm.

Step 5

Step 6

Add the finely minced burdock root to the rice and mix them together.

Step 6

Step 7

Then, add the chopped imitation crab sticks to the rice and mix well.

Step 7

Step 8

If you’re using a different type of cooked burdock or other vegetables instead of the kimbap-style braised burdock, add them now and mix. (e.g., minced carrots, minced onions)

Step 8

Step 9

Pour the seasoning sauce included in the Inarizushi kit over the rice. This is the key to that signature sweet and tangy flavor!

Step 9

Step 10

Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix the rice and seasoning, being careful not to mash the rice grains. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed throughout the rice.

Step 10

Step 11

Now, take a spoonful of the seasoned rice and gently fill each tofu pouch. Don’t overstuff it, as it might burst; a slightly rounded shape is perfect. Your delicious Inarizushi are now complete!
