Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 400g of frozen nuggets. You can use them directly from frozen without thawing.
Step 2
Place the nuggets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Arranging them without overlapping ensures they cook evenly and become crispy.
Step 3
Set the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cook for about 20 minutes. The cooking time can be adjusted based on the nugget size and your air fryer’s specifications.
Step 4
After 20 minutes, you’ll see perfectly golden and crispy nuggets! The savory aroma alone will make your mouth water.
Step 5
Now, let’s prepare the vegetables for stir-frying. Lightly oil a frying pan and heat it over medium heat.
Step 6
Wash and peel half a carrot, then dice it into approximately 1cm cubes. Add it to the pan first and sauté briefly. Stir-frying the vegetables first helps retain their crisp texture and enhances their flavor.
Step 7
Prepare a quarter of a small cabbage head by dicing it into similar-sized pieces as the carrots. Once the carrots are slightly tender, add the cabbage to the pan and continue to stir-fry.
Step 8
Peel and wash one onion, then slice it into strips about 0.5cm thick. Add the sliced onions to the pan and stir-fry with the other vegetables. Cooking until the onions turn translucent will bring out their natural sweetness.
Step 9
Now, let’s make the delicious Yangnyeom chicken sauce! In a small bowl, add 1 Tbsp of gochujang. This forms the base for the spicy flavor.
Step 10
Add 1/2 Tbsp of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) for color and a touch of heat.
Step 11
Stir in 1 Tbsp of ketchup for a sweet and tangy element, which kids often love.
Step 12
Add 1/2 Tbsp of soy sauce for savory depth. Be mindful of the measurement to avoid making the sauce too salty.
Step 13
Generously add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic to enhance the aroma and flavor, making the sauce richer.
Step 14
Add 2.5 Tbsp of oligodang (corn syrup) for sweetness and a glossy finish. It adds a smooth sweetness and shine.
Step 15
Add 1 Tbsp of sugar to further enrich the sweetness. This combination of oligodang and sugar creates a perfectly balanced sweet sauce.
Step 16
Add 1 Tbsp of water to adjust the sauce consistency and help it mix smoothly.
Step 17
Use a spoon or whisk to combine all the sauce ingredients thoroughly. Mix until the gochujang is fully dissolved and the sauce is smooth.
Step 18
Once the stir-fried vegetables are partially cooked, add the crispy nuggets that were air-fried.
Step 19
Gently mix the cooked nuggets with the sautéed vegetables using a spatula. It’s important to mix them softly to prevent the nuggets from breaking.
Step 20
Pour the prepared Yangnyeom chicken sauce evenly over the nuggets and vegetables in the pan.
Step 21
Stir-fry quickly over medium-low heat until the sauce is well coated on the nuggets and vegetables. The key is to stir-fry until glossy without burning the sauce.
Step 22
Finally, sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds for added nutty flavor and texture.
Step 23
Toss gently once more with the sesame seeds, and your delicious Yangnyeom chicken is ready! It looks incredibly appetizing.
