Step 1
Today, we’re going to make a whole pork belly roast using an air fryer that’s perfectly crispy on the outside and incredibly juicy on the inside, with all the excess fat rendered out. It’s a fantastic dish for special occasions or when hosting guests.
Step 2
Score the surface of the whole pork belly with a knife. Making these cuts allows the seasoning to penetrate deeply and helps the fat render out during cooking, resulting in a more tender and delicious texture. Aim for cuts about 0.5 to 1 cm apart.
Step 3
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper. This makes cleanup much easier later on. Place the scored pork belly onto the parchment paper and generously sprinkle it with herb salt. Ensure the salt is evenly distributed over the entire piece for balanced flavor.
Step 4
Place the seasoned pork belly into the air fryer and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, flip the pork belly over and cook for another 10 minutes at the same temperature. (The pork belly I used wasn’t exceptionally thick, so this time worked perfectly for me. However, you might need to adjust the cooking time depending on the thickness of your pork belly and your specific air fryer model. The key is to check that the exterior is golden brown and the interior is cooked through.)
