Crispy Curried Tofu Bites
Simple Yet Unique: A Recipe for Pan-Fried Curried Tofu
Here’s a remarkably simple yet slightly different take on tofu – pan-fried tofu infused with aromatic curry spices. Enjoy a delightful texture contrast and a hint of exotic flavor!
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 block Firm Tofu (approx. 200g)
- 1 Tbsp All-purpose Flour
- 1 Tbsp Curry Powder
- Cooking Oil (generous amount)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare half a block of tofu. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, such as 2-3cm thick rectangles or cubes. After cutting, place the tofu pieces on paper towels and gently press to remove as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial for achieving a crispy exterior.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and 1 tablespoon of curry powder. This 1:1 ratio creates the coating for the tofu. Feel free to adjust the amount of curry powder to your preference for a stronger or milder curry flavor.
Step 3
Arrange the patted-dry tofu pieces on a tray or wide plate. Evenly coat each piece of tofu with the flour and curry powder mixture, ensuring all sides are covered. You can lightly tap the tofu to help the coating adhere well.
Step 4
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Once the pan is warm, carefully place the coated tofu pieces into the oil. Fry them slowly, turning occasionally, until each side is golden brown and crispy. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side. Serve immediately for the best texture.
