Ingredients
  • Shredded Cabbage: 1/2 bunch (approx. 100g)
  • Fresh Egg: 1 large
  • Soft Bread: 1 slice
  • Cooking Oil or Butter: a little (for greasing the pan)
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Black Pepper: a pinch
  • Ketchup: to taste
  • Mustard Sauce: a little
  • Vinegar: 1/2 Tbsp (for washing cabbage)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the cabbage. Place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl. Add enough water to cover the cabbage and stir in 1/2 Tbsp of vinegar. Let it soak for about 10 minutes to help remove impurities. After soaking, rinse thoroughly under cold water and squeeze out any excess moisture.

Step 2

In the same bowl, combine the drained shredded cabbage with 1 fresh egg. Add a pinch of salt and pepper for seasoning. Mix well until the egg mixture evenly coats the cabbage, creating your egg and cabbage batter.

Step 3

Preheat your pan over medium heat and add a little cooking oil or butter to prevent sticking. Carefully pour the cabbage and egg batter into the pan, shaping it into a rectangle roughly the size of your bread slice. Gently guide the edges to form a neat square.

Step 4

Cook over medium-low heat until golden brown. Once the bottom is nicely browned, carefully flip the mixture and cook the other side until it’s also golden brown and set. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.

Step 5

Toast the slice of bread. An easy way is to use an air fryer at 200°C (392°F) for about 5 minutes, until lightly golden and slightly crisp. You can also use a toaster or oven.

Step 6

Cut the toasted bread in half. Place the cooked cabbage and egg patty on one half of the bread. Drizzle with your desired amount of mustard sauce and ketchup for added flavor.

Step 7

Finally, place the other half of the bread on top to complete your hearty and delicious Cabbage Egg Toast. Gently press down to help everything hold together.

Step 8

Enjoy your wonderfully balanced Cabbage Egg Toast, featuring the satisfying crunch of cabbage and the soft texture of egg! It’s a filling and tasty meal perfect for any time. Best served warm.
