Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water. Make sure to check for any dirt or debris.
Step 2
Place the bean sprouts and 1 cup of water (using a mug as a measure) into a pot. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, simmer for another 2-3 minutes. After turning off the heat, do not open the lid. Let it steam for about 1 minute. This process helps to eliminate any ‘fishy’ smell from the bean sprouts and ensures a crisp texture.
Step 3
Drain the well-cooked bean sprouts using a colander and let them cool down slightly. Be careful not to season while they are still very hot, as this can make the sprouts mushy.
Step 4
Once the bean sprouts have cooled down a bit, add all the prepared seasoning ingredients (chopped green onion, gochugaru, minced garlic, salt, sesame oil, toasted sesame seeds).
Step 5
Gently mix the bean sprouts with the seasonings until evenly coated. Taste and add more salt if needed. The salad should taste slightly on the saltier side when you first taste it, as the flavor will mellow out after resting. Finish with sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds for a fragrant and delicious bean sprout salad!
