Main Ingredients
  • 200g flat fish cakes
  • 2 fresh eggs
  • 1/2 stalk green part of a leek
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Ketchup (optional)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • A little black pepper

Savory Dipping Sauce (Tablespoon Measurement)
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 0.5 Tbsp sugar
  • 0.5 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
  • 0.5 Tbsp water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, to remove excess oil and impurities from the fish cakes, place them in a sieve and pour boiling water over them. This step ensures a cleaner and more delicate flavor.

Step 2

Wash the green parts of the leek thoroughly and chop them finely. If you prefer a spicier kick, finely mince some chili peppers along with the leek, according to your preference.

Step 3

In a large bowl, crack the 2 fresh eggs. Add the prepared leeks (or chili peppers), a pinch of salt, and a little black pepper. Whisk gently with a fork until well combined. Ensure the egg mixture is evenly blended.

Step 4

If you are using thicker, block-style fish cakes, slice them thinly and flat. If you are using pre-cut thin flat fish cakes, you can skip this step.

Step 5

Now, add the sliced fish cakes to the egg mixture. Gently mix them together, ensuring that each piece of fish cake is evenly coated with the egg batter.

Step 6

Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of vegetable oil. Carefully place the egg-coated fish cakes into the hot oil. Pan-fry them until they turn golden brown on both sides, taking care not to burn them. Your delicious fish cake and egg pancakes are now ready.

Step 7

Isn’t that simple? Using thin, flat fish cakes will give you a delightful crispy texture, which is quite appealing. They taste great dipped in ketchup while warm, or you can enjoy them with the savory dipping sauce we prepared.

Step 8

These fish cake pancakes are not only a satisfying side dish for any meal but also an excellent and easy snack to enjoy with drinks. Try making them with this recipe for a delicious and enjoyable mealtime! ^^
