Chewy Beef Brisket Bibim Jjolmyeon
Delicious Jjolmyeon with Tender Beef Brisket ♡
A delightful meeting of tender beef brisket and spicy-sweet jjolmyeon! We’ve made beef brisket jjolmyeon. It’s a perfect harmony of textures and flavors! ^^*
Ingredients
- Ottogi Fresh Jjolmyeon Noodles, 2 servings
- Lettuce, 5 leaves
- Pickled Cucumber (Oiji), 10 slices
- Beef Brisket, 2 slices
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare all the ingredients for your dish. You’ll need 2 slices of beef brisket and 2 servings of jjolmyeon noodles. Wash the 5 lettuce leaves, pat them dry, and shred them thinly. Gently squeeze the excess water from the 10 slices of pickled cucumber (oiji) and shred them thinly as well. Having all your ingredients prepped makes cooking so much smoother!
Step 2
Get a pot ready to boil the jjolmyeon noodles and fill it generously with water. Bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.
Step 3
Once the water is vigorously boiling, carefully add the 2 servings of Ottogi fresh jjolmyeon noodles to the pot.
Step 4
Gently stir the noodles to prevent them from sticking together, and cook for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Cooking times can vary slightly depending on the brand of jjolmyeon, so it’s always a good idea to check the package instructions.
Step 5
Drain the cooked jjolmyeon noodles in a colander and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water. This step is crucial for achieving that signature chewy texture and preventing the noodles from becoming mushy or clumping together.
Step 6
Meanwhile, while you’re preparing the toppings, have some hot water ready in a separate bowl. This will be used to slightly soften the toppings.
Step 7
You can either use the hot water remaining in the noodle pot or the hot water you prepared. Briefly dip your toppings (like bean sprouts or vegetables, if using – not included in this recipe but could be added) into the hot water.
Step 8
Let the toppings sit in the hot water for about 2 minutes. This will gently soften them without making them lose their texture.
Step 9
Now, let’s prepare the beef brisket. Pat the 2 slices of brisket dry with paper towels to remove any excess blood. Properly draining the blood will ensure a cleaner flavor without any gamey taste.
Step 10
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add a little oil. Place the drained beef brisket slices into the hot pan.
Step 11
Sear the beef brisket to your desired doneness, typically medium-rare or medium. Aim for a nice brown crust on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and tender.
Step 12
Once cooked, let the beef brisket rest for a moment, then cut it into bite-sized cubes. This makes it easy to enjoy with the jjolmyeon. (The cubed appearance in the photo looks quite charming!)
Step 13
Place the prepared, drained jjolmyeon noodles into a large mixing bowl.
Step 14
Now it’s time to add the seasoning sauce for the jjolmyeon. Add your preferred amount of bibimjang (spicy mixed sauce). You can use a store-bought one or your favorite homemade recipe.
Step 15
Add the bibimjang to the noodles in the bowl. Using chopsticks or tongs, gently toss and mix the noodles with the sauce until they are evenly coated. Be careful not to break the noodles while mixing. Thorough mixing is key for the best flavor!
Step 16
Divide the seasoned jjolmyeon into individual serving bowls, about one serving per bowl. Check that the noodles look deliciously tangled and coated.
Step 17
Garnish the noodles with a small portion of the pre-softened toppings you prepared earlier.
Step 18
Add the shredded lettuce. Its fresh crunchiness complements the chewy noodles perfectly.
Step 19
Top with a bit of the shredded pickled cucumber (oiji). The slightly tangy flavor of the oiji cuts through any richness and adds a delightful zest.
Step 20
Finally, generously arrange the cubed beef brisket over the jjolmyeon. Your delicious Beef Brisket Bibim Jjolmyeon is now complete! Enjoy your meal!
