Youn's Kitchen Style Dakgangjeong (Using Leftover Fried Chicken)

Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Chicken
  • Occasion : Quick & Easy
  • Cooking : Deep-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • Boneless fried chicken, about 1/2 portion (use leftover fried chicken)

Dakgangjeong Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp White Sugar
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic (using a measuring spoon)
  • 2 Tbsp Corn Syrup (or Oligosaccharide)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the boneless fried chicken that has been stored in the refrigerator. Cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm). This will help the sauce coat evenly and make it easier to eat.

Step 1

Step 2

To soften the chicken, which may have become firm from refrigeration, add about half a paper cup of water (approx. 50ml) to a frying pan. This step helps to moisten the chicken slightly.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious Dakgangjeong sauce. Start by adding 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. The saltiness of the soy sauce will balance the overall flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add 2 tablespoons of white sugar for sweetness. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your preference.

Step 4

Step 5

Add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic to enhance the garlic flavor. Using a measuring spoon ensures accuracy.

Step 5

Step 6

Add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup for a glossy and sweet finish. Corn syrup, unlike sugar, helps thicken the sauce and ensures it adheres well to the chicken.

Step 6

Step 7

Combine all the sauce ingredients in the frying pan. Stir constantly over high heat for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Be careful not to burn it.

Step 7

Step 8

Pour the hot, thickened sauce over the prepared chicken pieces and toss to coat evenly. While Youn’s Kitchen typically combines sauce with freshly fried chicken, this recipe is a convenient way to use leftover chicken. You can gently reheat the chicken or coat it as is for a delicious result!
