Porridge Ingredients
  • 100ml pine nuts (about 1 cup)
  • 200ml milk (1 cup)
  • 200ml heavy cream (1 cup)
  • 100ml glutinous rice flour (1 cup)
  • 1 handful of almonds (optional, for enhanced flavor)

Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the ingredients for the porridge. Measure out 100ml of pine nuts (rinsed clean), 200ml of fresh milk, and 200ml of smooth heavy cream. Also, prepare 100ml of glutinous rice flour. If you’d like a richer and healthier taste, prepare a handful of almonds as well.

Step 2

In a blender, combine the 100ml of pine nuts and 200ml of milk. Blend until smooth. If you are adding almonds, put them in at this stage and blend them together with the pine nuts. It’s important that the pine nuts are finely ground without any chunks.

Step 3

To the smoothly blended mixture of pine nuts and milk, add the 100ml of glutinous rice flour and 200ml of heavy cream. Stir well to prevent lumps from forming. Initially, use a spatula or a whisk to smoothly combine the ingredients.

Step 4

Place the pot over medium-low heat. Using a suitable tool (a whisk or wooden spoon is recommended), stir continuously for about 3-4 minutes. You will notice the porridge gradually thickening as the glutinous rice flour starts to break down. The key is to keep stirring to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

Step 5

Once the porridge begins to thicken, gradually add a little water while continuing to cook and stir for another 3-4 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency. The total cooking time should be around 10 minutes, ensuring the glutinous rice flour is fully cooked and has a smooth texture. Finally, season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt to complete your delicious pine nut porridge. You can also add a little honey or sugar to taste, if desired.
