A side dish with a chewy, jelly-like texture that kids absolutely adore! Cheongpomuk Salad is the ultimate quick and easy side dish, ready in just 5 minutes. It’s perfect for busy days!
Main Ingredients- Half block Cheongpomuk (approx. 150g)
- 4 sheets seasoned seaweed (gim)
Seasoning (Teaspoon Measurement)- 1 tsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 tsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Cheongpomuk usually comes in 300g blocks. If you make the whole batch at once, it can harden white in the fridge, or the seaweed flakes can clump and make it less appealing for later. That’s why I prefer to prepare just enough for one meal. This recipe uses half a block (about 150g), yielding a perfect portion for one serving. If you plan to use the entire block (300g), simply double the seasoning amounts!
Step 2
I’ve prepared half a block of Cheongpomuk. Slice it into your desired length and thickness. We’ll use half today and store the other half in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Step 3
Fill a pot with enough water to cover the Cheongpomuk and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, add the sliced Cheongpomuk and blanch for about 1 minute. You’ll know it’s ready when the opaque white turns uniformly translucent. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy. Drain the blanched Cheongpomuk in a sieve.
Step 4
Do not rinse the Cheongpomuk with cold water after draining! This helps preserve its delightful chewy texture. Just let it sit and cool down naturally.
Step 5
Place the slightly cooled Cheongpomuk into a bowl. First, add 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and gently mix it in to season the noodles. Then, tear the 4 sheets of seasoned seaweed into pieces and add them. Finally, add 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and gently toss everything together. Your delicious Cheongpomuk Salad is now complete! ♡
Step 6
Adding too much soy sauce can make the salad look dull, so if it’s not salty enough, adjust the seasoning with a pinch of salt. For extra flavor and aroma, you can also finely chop and mix in some green onions or water parsley.
Step 7
Here it is – a nutty and delightfully jelly-like Cheongpomuk Salad, ready in just 5 minutes that kids will absolutely rave about! This is a must-try side dish, so give it a go. Enjoy your meal! ~~
