  • Sesame seeds, as needed
  • A little sesame oil
  • 1 packet of roasted seaweed (gim)
  • 3 hot peppers (e.g., Cheongyang peppers)
  • 2 pairs of disposable gloves

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

These are all the ingredients you’ll need to make the Giant Whole Bacon Rice Balls.

Step 1

Step 2

First, wash the hot peppers thoroughly and mince them finely. Also, use scissors to cut the roasted seaweed into small pieces. This preparation ensures they’ll mix well into the rice.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, cut the whole bacon into pieces that are suitable for topping the rice balls. Aim for a thickness that allows for a satisfying bite, similar to how you’d cut meat.

Step 3

Step 4

I’ve cut the whole bacon thickly so that it has a chewy texture, almost like biting into a piece of meat!

Step 4

Step 5

Place the cut bacon pieces on a baking sheet. We’ll bake them in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 20 minutes. If you don’t have an oven, you can pan-fry the bacon until golden brown on both sides, flipping frequently.

Step 5

Step 6

Be sure to bake the whole bacon at 200°C (392°F) in a preheated oven for 20 minutes. Ensure the oven is set to both upper and lower heat during this time.

Step 6

Step 7

While the bacon is baking, let’s prepare the rice for the rice balls. Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the 3 bowls of cooked white rice.

Step 7

Step 8

Add a generous amount of sesame seeds as well. They add a wonderful nutty flavor and texture.

Step 8

Step 9

Now, mix in the finely minced hot peppers. This is what will give our rice balls their delicious spicy kick!

Step 9

Step 10

Add the roasted seaweed that you’ve cut into small pieces. It adds a savory depth to the rice.

Step 10

Step 11

Put on a pair of disposable gloves and gently mix all the ingredients into the rice. Make sure everything is evenly distributed for consistent flavor in every bite.

Step 11

Step 12

And there you have it! The seasoned rice for your Giant Rice Balls is ready.

Step 12

Step 13

Meanwhile, the whole bacon has finished baking to perfection in the oven!

Step 13

Step 14

Transfer the beautifully golden-brown baked whole bacon to a plate. It looks incredibly appetizing.

Step 14

Step 15

Now, let’s assemble the Giant Whole Bacon Rice Balls using the seasoned rice and the freshly baked bacon.

Step 15

Step 16

Take a portion of the rice and shape it into a ball. Aim for a size that’s substantial but still manageable to eat.

Step 16

Step 17

Top the rice ball with a piece of the whole bacon. Repeat this process for the remaining rice. You’ve now created a delicious Giant Whole Bacon Rice Ball!

Step 17

Step 18

Voilà! A total of 15 Giant Whole Bacon Rice Balls have been made! Just looking at them makes me feel hungry. ♥

Step 18

Step 19

These are truly ‘King’ sized rice balls! I made each one with about two spoonfuls of rice, so they’re quite filling.

Step 19

Step 20

These cute yet impressively large Giant Whole Bacon Rice Balls are ready to be tasted. Let’s take a bite!

Step 20

Step 21

The vibrant green of the hot peppers, the glistening sesame seeds, and the seaweed mixed into the rice create a beautiful, appetizing color.

Step 21

Step 22

The whole bacon itself has a peppery, slightly spicy flavor, and with the added hot peppers in the rice, the spiciness is perfectly balanced and incredibly delicious! You don’t even need to season the rice separately; the bacon provides enough saltiness to make these rice balls wonderfully tasty. You absolutely must try them!
