Warming Dried Radish Tea for Cold Prevention
A Perfect Remedy for Seasonal Colds: Delicious Dried Radish Tea
As the seasons change and the air turns crisp, our immune systems can become vulnerable. This is the perfect time to enjoy a comforting cup of dried radish tea, a warming beverage that’s as beneficial as it is unique. When you think of tea, you might imagine steeping tea leaves or fruit in hot water. However, many common vegetables can also be brewed into delightful teas. Mushrooms and carrots are popular examples, but dried radish, or ‘mool-mal-rang-ee’ in Korean, can also be boiled to create a wonderfully soothing tea. Unlike other teas, it offers a subtly invigorating, slightly peppery flavor that warms you from the inside out. This tea is not only a comforting drink during cooler weather but is also a popular choice for helping to ward off seasonal colds, making it a cherished part of a healthy lifestyle. Enjoy its simple, wholesome goodness at home.
Tea Ingredients- Dried radish (mool-mal-rang-ee) 20g
- Water (total 5 cups)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by preparing 20g of dried radish. Gently rinse the dried radish pieces under running water to remove any dust or debris. Place the rinsed radish into a pot and add 1 cup of water (approximately 200ml). Let it soak for about 10 minutes. This soaking step helps to release the flavor and aroma of the dried radish more effectively.
Step 2
After the radish has soaked, it’s time to add more water. Pour an additional 4 cups of water (approximately 800ml) into the pot, bringing the total to 5 cups. This amount of water is perfect for extracting the radish’s flavor to create a well-balanced tea.
Step 3
With the water added, place the pot over medium-high heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer gently for 20 minutes. Simmering for this duration allows the deep, earthy flavors of the radish to fully infuse into the water, creating a richer taste. After 20 minutes, turn off the heat. Carefully strain the brewed tea through a fine-mesh sieve into your favorite mug. Enjoy this warm, slightly peppery, and subtly savory dried radish tea immediately, or let it cool slightly before sipping. It’s a wonderfully comforting and healthy beverage!
