Toast & Rusk Ingredients- 4 slices of bread (slightly thick slices work best)
- 8 Vienna sausages
- 4 slices of cheddar cheese
- 3 Tbsp butter (melted)
Sweet Sauce & Topping Ingredients- Condensed milk (to taste, generously)
- 2 Tbsp allulose (or sugar)
- Condensed milk (to taste, generously)
- 2 Tbsp allulose (or sugar)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the 4 slices of bread for the toast by cutting them into 4 equal portions for bite-sized pieces. Trimming the crusts neatly will make the final presentation even more appealing. Similarly, cut the cheddar cheese slices into 4 equal portions, matching the size of the bread pieces.
Step 2
We’re going to make the Vienna sausages look cute and special! Slice each sausage in half diagonally, then slice each half in half again (while holding them upright). This will naturally create heart shapes. These prepared Vienna sausages will add a lovely visual touch when placed on the toast.
Step 3
Now, let’s assemble the toast. Spread a thin, even layer of condensed milk over each slice of bread. Place a piece of cheddar cheese on top of the condensed milk, followed by the heart-shaped Vienna sausage pieces, arranged attractively.
Step 4
Bake the prepared toasts in an oven or air fryer preheated to 180°C (350°F). Bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheddar cheese is melted and lightly golden brown. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. The cheese will melt, enhancing the flavors.
Step 5
While the toast is baking, let’s make the sweet butter sauce for the rusks. In a microwave-safe bowl, place 3 tablespoons of butter and microwave for about 20-30 seconds until melted. Add 2 tablespoons of allulose (or sugar) and stir well until there are no lumps. A sweet and savory aroma will fill the air.
Step 6
It’s time to make rusks with the remaining 4 slices of bread (or the crusts trimmed from the toast). Cut the bread into bite-sized pieces. Then, generously and evenly brush the prepared sweet butter sauce onto all sides of the bread pieces. Thorough application ensures a more delicious rusk once baked.
Step 7
Arrange the butter-coated bread pieces in the air fryer and bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 8-10 minutes, until crispy and golden brown. Flip them halfway through the baking time to ensure even crispiness on both sides. Once they are nicely browned, your delicious rusks are ready!
