Main Ingredients

  • 300g ground pork
  • 1.5 medium onions
  • 1/4 stalk green onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, peel and rinse the 1.5 onions thoroughly under running water. Then, dice them finely or slice them into about 0.5cm thick pieces. Chop the 1/4 stalk of green onion into similar sized pieces (about 0.5cm). Having your ingredients prepped makes the cooking process much smoother.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a wide pan over medium heat and add 2 Tbsp of cooking oil. Once the pan is hot enough, add the chopped onions and green onions. Stir-fry them for about 1 minute and 30 seconds, making sure they don’t burn. They should start to look slightly translucent.

Step 2

Step 3

Add 300g of ground pork and 1 Tbsp of minced garlic to the pan with the onions and green onions. Stir and mix well with a spatula, breaking up any clumps of meat. Cook for about 1 minute until the pork is no longer pink on the outside.

Step 3

Step 4

Now it’s time to add flavor. First, pour in 4 Tbsp of soy sauce. Continue to stir and cook for about 1 minute, ensuring the ingredients don’t stick to the bottom of the pan or burn. This step helps the soy sauce coat all the ingredients evenly.

Step 4

Step 5

Immediately after adding the soy sauce, add 1 Tbsp of red pepper flakes, 4 Tbsp of gochujang, and 1 Tbsp of oligosaccharide for sweetness. Mix everything together thoroughly and stir-fry for an additional 3 minutes. It’s important to keep stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Step 6

Your delicious Stir-Fried Pork and Gochujang Sauce is ready! Let it cool slightly, then transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. You can use about 2-3 tablespoons of this sauce to stir-fry with rice for fried rice, or add it to soft tofu stew (sundubu jjigae) for a deeper flavor. It’s also excellent as a filling for kimbap or as a dipping sauce for ssam (lettuce wraps), so feel free to use it in many creative ways!
