  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 200-250g ground beef
  • 4 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp plum extract (maesilcheong)
  • 1 Tbsp cooking wine (mirin)
  • 2.5 Tbsp oligodang (corn syrup)
  • 1/3 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp plum extract, 1 Tbsp cooking wine, 2.5 Tbsp oligodang, 1/3 tsp black pepper, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix well with your hands until the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the beef. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This marinating time allows the flavors to penetrate deeply into the meat, creating a richer taste.

Step 2

2. Heat a pan over high heat and add all the marinated ground beef. Stir-fry, and you’ll notice a lot of moisture released. Continue to cook, stirring, until this moisture evaporates and the beef becomes crumbly. It’s important to reduce the heat to medium-low as needed to dry out the liquid. This cooking method brings out the delicious texture and aroma characteristic of Beef Soboro.

Step 3

3. Finally, add 2 Tbsp sesame oil and 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, and stir-fry briefly one last time. Your delicious Beef Soboro is ready! This versatile dish is perfect as a filling for rice balls (jumeokbap) or kimbap. It also makes a wonderful topping for tteokguk (rice cake soup) or bibimbap. You can even make a tasty sandwich by placing it between bread slices. If you mix it into your child’s rice, they’ll eat it up in no time! Enjoy using this in a variety of dishes!
