Main Ingredients
  • 10-12 sheets of store-bought seasoned inari tofu pouches (for 4 servings)
  • 100g ground beef
  • 50g burdock root
  • 1/4 red bell pepper
  • 30g carrot

Beef Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the store-bought seasoned inari tofu pouches. Handle them gently to avoid tearing or misshaping them.

Step 2

Have the furikake and the seasoning vinegar from your inari sushi kit ready. These will add delicious flavor to the rice.

Step 3

Finely dice the carrot. Lightly oil a pan and stir-fry the diced carrots with a pinch of salt until slightly softened. Set aside to cool.

Step 4

Finely mince the burdock root. In a pan, combine 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, and 2 tbsp water. Once mixed, add the minced burdock and simmer until the liquid is mostly absorbed, stir-frying to bring out its fragrant flavor.

Step 5

For the ground beef, mix in minced garlic, soy sauce, sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Cook the seasoned ground beef over low heat, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks to ensure it’s fluffy and not clumpy.

Step 6

Gather all the cooked filling ingredients together. Their vibrant colors are sure to whet your appetite!

Step 7

Place the freshly cooked, fluffy rice into a large bowl. Add the furikake from the inari sushi kit and all the prepared stir-fried ingredients.

Step 8

Be careful not to squeeze the inari pouches too hard, as they might break or lose their flavor. Gently press out any excess liquid from the pouches to retain their taste. Now, add the delicious stir-fried ingredients to the rice.

Step 9

Using a spatula held vertically, gently mix the rice and ingredients, taking care not to mash the rice grains. Once everything is evenly combined, stir in sesame oil and black sesame seeds for a nutty aroma.

Step 10

Take one inari pouch and open it up gently with your left hand, holding it in your palm. With your right hand, scoop about one spoonful of the seasoned rice and carefully push it into the inari pouch, filling it generously.

Step 11

Shape the filled inari sushi into a neat, plump form. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment when you see these cute little sushi rolls!

Step 12

These inari sushi are a wonderful way to use up leftover rice or to make a quick, satisfying meal. Feel free to add other vegetables or nuts to customize the flavor!
