- 1 packet of commercial Jjajang sauce (adjust to your preference)

- A little bit of chives (finely chopped, for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start making Jjajang Tteokbokki! Get ready to create your kids’ new favorite snack!
Step 2
Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until it becomes transparent and fragrant. Sautéing the onion until translucent helps bring out its natural sweetness, which will deepen the flavor of the black bean sauce.
Step 3
Once the onion is softened, add the 100g of ground pork to the pan. Break up any clumps of meat and stir-fry until the pork is no longer pink and is lightly browned. The savory aroma from the browning pork will make your mouth water!
Step 4
Now for the star of the show! Pour in 1 packet of commercial Jjajang sauce and stir it in with the sautéed onion and pork. Once the sauce is well combined with the ingredients, add the 300g of tteokbokki rice cakes that you’ve rinsed in cold water. Stir well to coat the rice cakes evenly with the Jjajang sauce. Cook until the rice cakes become soft and chewy.
Step 5
Cut the 3 sheets of fish cakes into triangles and add them to the pan. The fish cakes will absorb the delicious Jjajang sauce as they cook, making them even more flavorful. Continue to cook for a little while longer to ensure the rice cakes and fish cakes are cooked through.
Step 6
Almost done! Add a small amount of finely chopped chives and gently toss everything together. The fresh, slightly pungent flavor of the chives adds a lovely freshness to the Jjajang Tteokbokki and makes it visually appealing. Don’t overcook the chives; you want to maintain a slight crispness.
Step 7
Your Jjajang Tteokbokki is ready! Transfer the steaming hot dish into a nice serving bowl. Look at those delicious rice cakes and fish cakes coated in the rich black bean sauce – it’s sure to be a hit!
Step 8
The delicious Jjajang Tteokbokki, perfect for the whole family, is complete! Enjoy a special snack time that will surely earn you compliments from the kids. It’s best enjoyed immediately while hot!
